Where to eat and shop in Los Roques.

Gran Roque is a great place where you easily find nice local restaurants, small shops, new friends, adventure with nice surprises every. It is understandable that people in general want to enjoy this paradise, but one only hopes that the paradise will last for those who come after us, the birds that will visit us, the conches that will reproduce themselves and the corals that try to wear the best and most intensive colors. Take care of it all. Remember one has to approach Los Roques with affection. If you happen to see any ill treatment, behave as the park deserves it. Be allies of its unique geography, its crystal clear waters, its white sand, its implacable sun and its marine richness. Swim and dive to understand what the archipelago is like. Walk by its keys. Sail and swim all by your self. Go fishing. Eat lobster in the season. When you have enjoyed it all with the due kindness to the park you will understand our concern.

Camping in Los Roques.

Those wishing to camp in Los Roques must request a permit to Inparques ( National park authority ) at its offices in Gran Roque. It is free of charge. One only has to camp in the Recreational area in the western section of Gran Roque, Francisqui, Madrizqui, Crasqui, and Noronqui. Any boat will take you and pick you up, but you must take everything you need with you. There is nothing in the keys but sun, sea and sand. Not even toilets.

Payment.
If you reserve ahead of time a posada demands a deposit in a bank account. The majority accepts cash (Dollars or Bolivares) checks or credit cards with visa and Master card the most widely accepted. Some businesses charge 10% to 15% when using this kind of payment.

The majority are the bed and breakfast type. Then there is the media pension which includes accommodation breakfast and dinner; then there is all included, with accommodation, breakfast, dinner ,beach lunch, snacks, transport to and from the keys and beach service (chairs, umbrellas towels etc.) and welcome at the landing strip. Only some of these hotels offer national alcoholic drinks and snorkeling equipment. Other offers include accommodation with three meals included (not including outings to the keys) for two days / one night. This package is perfect for a weekend. Make your budget because if you do not have much money you can have accommodation with meals and make arrangements to visit the keys with the boats people in the Gran Roque directly. Although for a longer it is better to have all arranged before you arrive .
