Boca del Medio

Level of experience: beginner to advanced


Located on the east barrier of the archipelago, Boca del Medio is a place of crystal clear waters because it is not affected by the central lagoon’s production of micro algae; winds and currents move east to west most of the year. Visibility can be some 30 meters. Great masses of stone coral have come to make up very small islands that rise from above the surface, which is why care must be taken when approaching. It is an interesting place for the beginner and for the advanced snorkler as well because depending on prevailing sea conditions, the snorkler could venture into the reef windward area where there are old ship wrecks.
